A conference on church asylum in Budapest

On December 10th 2015 we organized a conference with the title “Church asylum – what can congregations do?”
The event was hosted in the beautiful and historical building of the St Columba’s Scottish Mission and we were greeted by the warm welcome of Rev Aaron Stevens. As speakers we were honored to host Montserrat Feixas Vihé, regional representative of UNHCR, Rev. Bernhard Fricke Executive Board of the German Ecumenical Sanctuary Movement, Rev Zoltán Bóna former general secretary of the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Hungary.

“Any church should have a place for the vulnerable. It might be women. It might be children. In our case in means making space for refugees. For other churches it might mean something different, but there always has to be a space for the marginalised.” Rev Fricke

If you look at the photos in the gallery taken at the event, notice the paintings in the background by Art Omoyoma. The photos are taken by Máté Diósi.
